Right to buy mortgages
If you are currently renting from the council, housing association, or Right to Buy Landlord, you may be able to buy your home at a substantial discount.
New tenants have an initial qualifying period of 5 Years before they can apply to buy their home. Tenants who were residing in the property prior to 18th January 2005 are only required to have 2 years minimum residency to apply.
The amount of discount will depend on your period of residency and your local borough.
Mortgages can be arranged up to 90% of the open market value (Which may be higher than the discounted purchase price) or 100% of the discounted purchase price.
